How to carry trash with your SUV while wheeling.

I know a lot of us have an SUV, Jeep or other "non" trucks. Although piling bags of trash in the back can work, many don't want to take the risk of hurting the interior of their vehicle or just don't have the room!
If you have a hitch mounted bike rack you may have the perfect alternative. I simply looped the bag back on itself to make sure it gets a good grip and doesn't go anywhere.
Take a look:

Keep in mind that the bags will sway around back there and I don't recommend any highspeed or highway driving with this set up. It may just make the difference in carrying enough trash to make a difference though.

Tatum and Pinnacle Peak to The Great Western Trail

The great part about Phoenix is that there are dirt roads that skirt in and around a lot of the roads on the "half" built outskirts of town. You can hit dirt just about 5miles north of my house at Tatum and Pinnacle Peak.
My buddy and I did a nice little loop.

Eventually, you pass over all the paved roads including pima and dynamite. Then we were running along the power line road. Smooth enough to be relaxed, but rough enough to have to think!

Lots of dirt bikes on this trail. It is riding season and a saturday after all!

All I could think the whole day is how bad I wanted a dog!

Our friend Krya will do anything for a good shot!

So we are headed down a part of the trail that has some fun bumps in it. Good for posing on. After I headed down I looked back to take a couple of pics of Brandt.

This picture says it all. DOH!! I think the dog is even saying it!

The rock decided to make sweet love to a crossmember. It actually jacked the truck up a few inches. After a quick reverse it let go and he proceeded with ease. Meet, the rock:

Once you hit 136 street you continue into the Great Western Trail. It eventually hits Bartlett road. At the road are some rhino/atv hills. I had to try it out...

Made it up and over so down the other side we went. It was so much fun I had to turn around and go back the other direction!!

McDowell Mountain Bike Race

I can't believe a cold has ever gotten me down for a few WEEKS, but alas it has. I headed over to the race to spectate and check it out!
This race was a LOT bigger than the Papago Peddler. It's the first points race of the year so everyone shows up.

The loops were all being run backward for the race today. For me its not backward... Well, mostly because I've only ridden the course once and it was the "backward" direction. If you haven't GO ride it. Its not technically hard, but is a lot of fun. You can get a great pace going on most of it. By the looks of it going the correct direction would only be faster. I haven't had a chance to ride the technical loop, but it looks fun and challenging!

Everyone was geared up!

The Missing Link Guys take riding seriously. They take drinking beer even more seriously. :)

Yes they brought a couch out! MLR rocks! I look forward to riding with these guys if they can stand me and I can keep up! haha!

and their off!

I don't think this guy wanted this moment imortalized on film... doh!

A little video of the first Sport riders coming through. They look a little expert to me! They led most of the pack by 5 minutes...

We then headed over to the hill since it seemed like a place I would fall.
Photobucket
Keeping speed up to the hill!

I was surprised by how many people made it. A lot of the marathoners (folks who were riding twice the distance of the experts. Yikes) stopped at the bottom and walked it. Others road up it just as fast as the rest. Double Yikes!

Video of a couple guys climbing the hill.

And that was the end for me! I need to get well and get training!
