Death Valley 2012 -- Part IV

BRRRRR!!!! When I went to bed there were a couple bottles of water sitting in the cup holder of the truck. This morning they are solid ice!
Let's get moving to some lower and warmer ground!!

A couple more friends were heading home from the trip today. It was getting quiet around here.
We loaded up and headed out to Beatty, Nevada. (Apparently pronounced Baity)

This is Hard Luck Castle. Sort of a strange place, but I love it. Not sure about those windows, but sometime I'd like to go in and take the tour of this guys house.

Dennis and I drive out to Indian Spring. Pretty drive and we saw a couple of Bighorn Sheep too.

As we headed towards Echo Canyon we explored some old mining trails. Some of these are TIGHT and very dangerous. I felt bad for Dennis having to get a full size truck around some of the corners we went along.

Down below we could see Echo.

At the end of almost all of these trails was a mine adit.

That hill on the left is far more steep than it looks!

As we drove down Echo Canyon we felt like we might see a rental car at any moment the trail was so smooth. We knew the lower part of the trail was marked as suitable for cars so we "thought" we may be near that area. Then... BAM! A nice little switchback that would stop even stock 4wd trucks. Fun stuff!

After this drop down and a couple of tight turns the trail is suitable for just about any vehicle.

We explored the lower part of the canyon a bit.

We decided to retreat up the canyon a bit and find a camp spot.

Such a pretty area.

The moon was pretty full which made for some interesting shots.

This one was taken at midnight.

The weather was much more mild last night! Thankfully!!
Today we were both headed home. We enjoyed the last little bit of dirt.

Time to air up and head out!

On the way home I had to scratch the dirt itch and take a cut off road from Kingman to Wikieup which was fun. Otherwise the trip was done. I was ready to get home and see D. At the same time I felt like I was just settling into traveling on the road and I just wanted to keep going!!

Hope enjoyed the trip!
