Bagdad loop

So my day went something like this. Get on the Triumph at about 8am. Phoenix, to Peoria, to Wickenburg, to Nothing, to Bagdad, to Hillside, to Skull Valley, to Kirkland, to Peeples Valley, to Yarnell, to Congress, To Wickenburg, to Carefree, to Cave Creek, to Scottsdale, to home.
That's a good day. Even got a mountain bike ride in after it all.

Hot air balloons across the sky in the morning.

Be sure to watch for cattle.

Go Bagdad!!

Bagdad is a company owned mining town. No private property around here. Company built homes for all the many workers.

Moving on.

Over 100 years ago Hillside was the ore processing town for Bagdad and other mines. Now it's a sleeping town of not much with some left over history.

Pretty road. No traffic. Roads that start in Nothing and go to no where don't tend to be busy.

Theres a sign you don't see often.

Lunch! Not good, not bad. Friendly service, hot coffee. Good to go.

I knew I felt cold! Snow still on the surrounding hills.

A bit ironic.

I had to drop by Rancho De Los Caballeros. We took a family trip here from California when I was about 10. Good memories of horse riding.

I was definitely having a better day than this guy!

7th Ave Car show.

Talk about a good weekend. Stressful week, so D prescribed some Triumph time.
Road down to an old part of Phoenix on 7th Ave. Lots of vintage stores and a pretty young and hip crowd. They were having a car show and street fair. I hung out and watched a couple different bands play.

So easy to take shots when the weather is perfect and the cars have this much character.

Love this one. Simple, clean. Not trying to "go for" any theme.

I love the copper vintage AZ plates.

Now, that's an old pumpkin.

This old beemer had a lot of character. Too bad for the rider he putted down the car show row and about 7 cops converged on him. Looks like he got a ticket.

Some good ol rock n roll bands playing.

This beaut rolled in and rolled home under it's own power. I would have a hard time trusting the wood wheels for a bit!
Photobucket

The specialty at this show were Packards. Pretty cool and rare cars. I have to admit I know little about them.
Photobucket

Two identical old Packards next to each other. One untouched since built, the other restored to perfection.

Nice old grain truck.
Photobucket

The owner was explaining how all of the sides were tung in groove to keep the seals tight and the grain from escaping.
Photobucket

Lift open this little gate and the grain comes out!
Photobucket

That's one sharp car!
